PebbleGo Celebrates Women's History

March 1, 2019

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – February 27, 2019 – Capstone, innovative publisher of children’s educational content for schools and home, and its award-winning K-2 research database PebbleGo™ are kicking off Women’s History Month with a fun resource for young researchers to discover remarkable women. Starting on March 1, students in grades K-2 are invited to visit the PebbleGo Women’s History website and answer a short, four-question quiz about their interests. The results will reveal a great woman from history who shared similar interests and may be someone the student will enjoy learning more about in PebbleGo.

Schools do not need to have a PebbleGo subscription to participate in the quiz. Women featured in the quiz include: Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Florence Nightingale, Sally Ride, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sojourner Truth, and Phillis Wheatley. From the quiz results page, students can download a report template to share what they learned about their historical figure.

Educators can incorporate this into their curriculum through four lesson plans designed specifically for Women’s History Month, as well as several other lesson plans through the PebbleGo Biographies module. There is also downloadable posters and social media images to help educators promote Women’s History Month in their school.

“Connecting with a historical figure can be challenging, especially when looking at a lifetime’s worth of achievements. We designed our quiz for young researchers to learn about women who accomplished extraordinary things and shared similar interests to themselves. Educators tell us their students love PebbleGo because it creates fun experiences for learning. We hope this will be a starting point for discovery, piquing kids’ curiosity to learn more about these incredible women and countless others who achieved great things,” said Darin Rasmussen, Capstone VP of Digital Product Development and Management.

The Women’s History Quiz is available at www.pebblego.com/womenshistory throughout the month of March.

All PebbleGo database modules include expertly-levelled text, fully narrated by professional voice-over artists to provide essential scaffolds for struggling readers and English language learners. PebbleGo employs a streamlined interface, animated highlighting, educational videos and games, and encompassing activities which teach students how to cite articles, create reports, and share what they’ve learned. The database is available over the Internet 24/7 as an annual subscription for enrolled students. During the 2017-18 school year alone, students viewed 116 million articles in the databases. Over 3 million students use PebbleGo.
